About Us

Our team of experienced staff exhausts all avenues for voluntary recovery before qualifying the account for legal and will do so only with client approval. If the account requires further action, we are well equipped to initiate legal proceedings and will send appropriate legal notices, file lawsuits, move for judgment and execute post-judgment remedies so as to maximize asset recovery quickly and efficiently. Mr. Schuerger is the founder and lead attorney for the Law Offices of Robert A. Schuerger Co., LPA, one of Ohio’s top performing Collections Law Firms. He has more than 6 years of practice in debt collection and 9 years of experience in business development. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio. His extensive experience has led to an expertise handling matters involving Student Loan collections, Tax, Local Debt and general receivables.

Robert Schuerger has invested time, talent and treasure in ensuring the success of his staff and the top-performing Columbus, Ohio law firm he established in 2008. He pulls from his experience  in business development to lead the Firm to be one of Ohio’s top-performing collection and business law firms. In addition to his litigation experience, he has spent extensive time in International Business, Government Relations and Business Development.

Robert Schuerger chairs the Ohio Athletic Commission, and The Corporate Council on Africa. His law practice began as an Aide in the Ohio Legislature and a law clerk at Brooks & Logan LPA.

James “Jaime” Sisto

About Us

Jaime has spent over 30 years in various government, legal and business settings developing a broad background in corporate and commercial law, operation and program management. Jaime’s legal experience includes economic development, international business, government contracting, asset management/collections and government relations.

Professional Experience:

Prior to joining Schuerger Law, Jaime was practicing with a law firm specializing in technology, privacy and financial services law. He was selected in recent years to provide transitional executive and legal leadership while developing strategic plans for two companies undergoing corporate restructuring. Jaime has served as President, COO and General Counsel for a diversified small business specializing in government contracting, international asset recovery, collections and distressed property redevelopment. During his time at a large international law firm, Jaime worked within the Corporate, Public Finance and International Practice groups. Jaime has also served as Deputy Director of the Ohio Department of Development serving as Ohio’s International Trade Director under Governors Voinovich, Hollister and Taft. In this role, Jaime both ran an 11-country operation and provided leadership and consulted on international opportunities and issues effecting Ohio.

Jaime has served as an adjunct professor of international commercial law at Capital University Law School and the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. He has conducted numerous CLE programs on international business, commercial transactions and sales law in addition to holding leadership positions in the Columbus and Ohio State Bar Associations. Jaime has been appointed by successive Secretaries of Commerce since the late 1980s to the District Export Councils for both the northern and southern districts in Ohio and he currently serves as Columbus Sub-Council Chairman of the Southern Ohio District Export Council. Among various community positions, Jaime is the Board Chairman of Greater Columbus Sister Cities International, Inc., is a Rotarian and a member of the Columbus Italian Club.

Thomas L. Sooy
Attorney at Law

About Us

Tom is an Attorney with the Firm, focusing his practice on collection, small business and foreclosure litigation. Additionally, he has extensive experience in defense litigation on behalf of homeowners who have been sued in foreclosure. Tom’s taxation experience consists of advocating before the Internal Revenue Service on behalf of individual taxpayers from across the country in the context of defending audits and handling appeals. Tom has negotiated hundreds of thousands of dollars in settlements on behalf of taxpayers. He is also working to build a sports management division of the Firm. Tom is licensed to practice in Ohio and Michigan.


Before joining Schuerger Law as Of Counsel in July 2015, Tom spent over 3.5 years as a solo practitioner in Worthington, Ohio. His practice consists of real estate in the context of foreclosure defense and taxation.
